New in the Market: Wonderful Almonds and Pistachios

Eating some nuts every day is a healthy habit. Almonds have been shown to aid in weight loss and pistachios are rich in antioxidants and help to lower LDL cholesterol. Wonderful Pistachios, Almonds, and Almond Accents all carry the American Heart Association “Heart Healthy” seal. Both nuts are sourced from northern California. The almonds and pistachios do not share the same equipment or facilities during harvesting and processing and all processing is peanut-free.

Wonderful Pistachios  are available in shells in 3 flavors – Roasted & Salted, Salt & Pepper, and Sweet Chili. A 1-ounce serving (approximately 30 nuts) has 100 calories. Wonderful Pistachios are also available Roasted & Salted Shelled. A one-quarter cup serving, approximately 1-ounce, has 160 calories. Pistachios in the shell are the better choice because the act of shelling slows down eating and offers more satisfaction. All varieties are kosher certified (OU). Wonderful Pistachios are available in single-serve 1.5-ounce bags and larger multi-serving bags.

Wonderful Almonds are shelled and available in 3 flavors – Roasted & Salted, Roasted No Salt, and Natural Raw. Raw almonds are not roasted but they are steam pasteurized according to USDA regulations. A 1.5 ounce single-serve bag has approximately 250 calories. Wonderful Almonds are also sold in 6.3-ounce bags. All varieties are kosher certified (OU). Halal certified (Islamic Food Nutrition Council of America).

Wonderful Almond Accents  are packaged in 3.5-ounce resealable bags. They are available in 6 flavors: Honey Roasted, Honey Roasted Cranberries, Original Oven Roasted, Oven Roasted No Salt, Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper, and Sweet Roasted with Pomegranate. A 1-tablespoon serving has 35 to 45 calories and 5 to 35 milligrams of sodium (Oven Roasted No Salt is sodium free). They are an easy way to add nuts and flavor to a recipe, salad, or dessert without adding too many extra calories or sodium. They are kosher certified (OU).
