SDCC Roasted Garlic Savory Herb 300We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

We all know that we should eat more vegetables, but we don’t. Carrots are a vegetable that most people like and not a hard sell to the family. Grimmway Farms has been growing carrots in central and southern California for 3 decades. Today, they are the largest grower, producer and shipper of carrots in the world.

They have taken their fresh carrot products to a next step, providing Simply Delicious Carrot Creations. These are easy-to-prepare side dishes based in petite carrots. Carrot Creations come in 2 flavors, Roasted Garlic & Savory Herb or Honey, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon. Both are excellent providing 70 calories in a 3-ounce serving (approximately 9 baby carrots). Both flavors can either be roasted in the oven which takes about 30 minutes or cooked in the microwave-safe bag in about 3 minutes. We tried both methods and the end-product was equally good. For busy families, microwaving a vegetable in the package in just a few minutes is an excellent option to provide a fresh vegetable with dinner.

One serving of both Grimmway Carrot Creations offers 110% (5,500 IUs) of you daily vitamin A requirement. Roasted Garlic & Savory Herb also has 2 grams of fiber and 160 milligrams of sodium. Honey, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon has 2 grams of fiber and 95 milligrams of sodium. These are products worth trying.

Carrot fun fact: Petite mini carrots, or baby carrots, were first introduced in 1989. They are not grown bite-sized. They come from a carrot variety that is bred to be long and slender. These carrots are then cut into two-inch pieces and further shaped into a uniform width. Today, baby carrots are the most popular type of carrots in the supermarket.
