We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

All Fiber One products provide an excellent source of fiber, a nutrient sadly lacking in most diets. The brand has extended its product line to offer even more high fiber options.

Fiber One Nutty Clusters & Almonds is the newest cereal variety. It has sweetened whole grain, wheat- based flakes with sliced almonds and almond clusters. It is crunchy and tasty and makes a great topping for yogurt. A 1 cup serving has 180 calories, 11 grams of fiber, 190 milligrams of potassium and 230 milligrams of sodium with the standard array of vitamins and minerals found in most fortified, ready-to-eat breakfast cereals.

Chocolate and Strawberry PB&J are the newest additions to the Fiber One Chewy Bars line. Both bars are 1 ounce. Chocolate has 100 calories per bar and Strawberry PB&J has 110. Both have 5 grams of fiber.

The Fiber One 90 Calorie Brownies line has added a Chocolate Chip Cookie flavor with 5 grams of fiber.

You should know:

Men aged 19 to 51 need to eat 38 grams of fiber a day. After age 51 the recommendation drops to 30 grams of fiber a day.

Women are smaller than men so their requirement is less. Women aged 19 to 50 should be eating 25 grams of fiber a day; from age 51 to 70, 21 grams of fiber a day. After age 70, 20 grams of fiber a day and during pregnancy the recommendation is 28 grams a day.
