New in the Market: Quaker Real Medleys

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Quaker is always reinventing a new way for us to eat and enjoy oatmeal. Real Medleys, with a suggested retail price of $1.79, are 4 new flavors of quickly prepared, single-serve, grab-and-go oatmeal that rival the flavored, nut-berry oatmeal dishes being offered by many restaurant chains. The benefit of the Quaker options is that can be made at home and eaten right from the container on the way to work or school. You simply add hot water to a designated fill line, recap, wait 3 minutes, stir and eat. They can also be kept in your desk for a quick and healthy lunch choice.

The 4 Real Medleys flavors combine oats, barley and rye with different combinations of fruits and nuts.

  • Cherry Pistachio – 1 container has 290 calories, 8 grams of fat, no cholesterol or trans fat, 9 grams of protein, 49 grams of carb (19 grams of sugar and 5 grams of fiber), and 130 milligrams of sodium.
  • Peach Almond  – 1 container has 290 calories, 7 grams of fat, no cholesterol or trans fat, 8 grams of protein, 51 grams of carb (19 grams of sugar and 6 grams of fiber), and 150 milligrams of sodium.
  • Summer Berry  – 1 container has 250 calories, 3 grams of fat, no cholesterol or trans fat, 8 grams of protein, 51 grams of carb (14 grams of sugar and 7 grams of fiber), and 250 milligrams of sodium.

Every flavor is an excellent source of fiber and provides nearly 2 servings of whole grains, putting you well on your way toward the three servings recommended daily.
