We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
Jayone Foods offers a wide selection of Korean products. We recently tried two.
Sea’s Gift is an excellent seaweed snack made from jarae-kim seaweed harvested in the west and southwest regions of South Korea. Though neither of us are seaweed lovers, we were pleasantly surprised at the crunchy taste. All come in 5 gram, single-serve packages. The Roasted Seaweed and Roasted Seaweed Wasabi are seaweed sheets. Each package has 30 calories, 2 grams of fat (with no saturated fat, trans fat or cholesterol) and 50 milligrams of sodium (60 milligrams for Wasabi). The Wasabi flavor had a nice hot kick that was not overpowering. The Sweet Seaweed Snack is crumbled in a 20 gram package with a light sweet taste that results from a combination of sesame oil, sea salt and organic cane juice. One package has 35 calories, 3 grams of fat (with no saturated fat, trans fat or cholesterol) and 70 milligrams of sodium. All flavors are vegan and gluten free.
Bambusland Bamboo Tea is a very mild but pleasant tea that comes in Plain, Blueberry and Vanilla flavors. We tasted the plain and blueberry, which had just a hint of flavor. Each is made from organic bamboo leaves cultivated in the Damyang area of Korea. The teas are USDA certified organic and free of calories, sugar, and caffeine.
