We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Barbara’s Bakery has added two new flavors to its Snackimals line of all natural animal crackers – Double Chocolate and Peanut Butter. The cookies are available in single serve 2.1-ounce bags or in 7.5-ounce reclosable bags. They are made without artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives and are trans fat free.

A 1-ounce serving of either flavor equals approximately 10 cookies, an ample serving size for a small child.

Double Chocolate has a pleasant chocolate flavor, dotted with tiny chocolate bits. It has a sweet cocoa taste but was not overly sweet and the cookies are crisper and thinner than traditional hard animal crackers. A 1-ounce serving has 140 calories, 4.5 grams of fat (1 gram is saturated fat), no trans fat, 2 grams protein, 23 grams of carb (9 grams are sugar which equals slightly more than 2 teaspoon per serving), 2 grams of fiber, and 125 milligrams of sodium.

Peanut Butter has a very mild peanut butter flavor, dotted with tiny peanut butter bits. This flavor is also crisper and thinner than traditional hard animal crackers. A 1-ounce serving has 150 calories, 7 grams of fat (1 gram is saturated fat), no trans fat, 3 grams protein, 20 grams of carb (10 grams are sugar which equals 2½ teaspoons per serving), 2 grams of fiber, and 20 milligrams of sodium.

The Snackimals cookie line also comes in Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, Oatmeal and Snickerdoodle flavors. The entire line of cookies is kosher certified (KOF-K).
